Entry Level Criteria This is a PRACTICAL Instructor’s Course and the Institute aims to improve the knowledge and skills of those who are ALREADY INSTRUCTING. The Institute also welcomes applications from those who have LITTLE or NO experience of instructing. However, personal, practical knowledge of dog training is a requirement in order to become an instructor. Therefore, the Institute has an entry level criteria which you need to meet in order to attend the Course.
You will need to have trained a dog yourself to a level consistent with the BIPDT National Pet Code, Bronze Level, or the Kennel Club’s Good Citizen Dog Scheme, Bronze Award, or any other comparative scheme, including levels devised by the dog classes you attend. You do not need to have passed. It is appreciated that not every dog training class offers any of these schemes but your instructor will be able to advise you whether you have met the standard required by BIPDT.
